While Bell is unlikely to see much court-time as third choice point-guard, he is one of the few players on the roster who is comfortable with the ball in his hands.

He was used sporadically last year at the FIBA Americas Championship, playing in only three games and while unlikely to ever be productive in a scoring sense – he can take good care of the ball for the team in short bursts.

Although he was very much down the pecking order and did not have the greatest season playing in Finland last year, he can still contribute sporadically.

Bell is defensively sound and able to guard opponents effectively due to his height, while his athleticism is a big positive coming off the bench.

He is the only National Team member to have played his university career in Canada – at Carleton (CIS) – rather than the NCAA in the United States.

Bell had been an outsider to make the Canadian team last summer for the FIBA Americas Championship in Las Vegas.
