Not a high profile player but Coach Dessarzin knows he can count on his energy and team dedication.

Undersized for a shooting guard, Konaté is not a tremendous outside shooter either but more of a streaky gunman.

“His game is very atypical and deceiving”, Dessarzin explains.

“In terms of energy and good will, he is comparable to Solo Diabaté.

For his position, he lacks size, of course, but his athleticism helps him compensate.

He looks like he is a young player but, in fact, he is 30! His game is very spectacular.

Last year, at the Africa Championship, he did a great job against Nigeria, when we decided to put a lot of pressure on the ball.”

In fact, in the first round, Konaté turned out to be the top scorer for the Elephants (13.3ppg).
